How to read charts

Lace, colorwork, cables.

1234row 1 at bottom
Read the chart from the bottom up. RS rows (odd) from right to left, WS rows from left to right. In the round, all rows from right to left. The red box is the repeat

How to do it

  1. Each square is one stitch, each line is one row.
  2. Read from bottom to top.
  3. When working flat, read RS (odd) rows from right to left and WS (even) rows from left to right, and the symbols are read "in reverse" (knit → purl).
  4. In the round, read all rows from right to left, from the right side.
  5. The red frame is the repeat; it is repeated across the width.

Tip

Place a ruler above the current row: fewer mistakes.
