1×1 and 2×2 rib
Hems, cuffs, necklines, bands: a stretchy edge that does not curl.
How to do it
- 2×2 rib: *k2, p2* in the round, the stitch count is a multiple of 4.
- When working flat, use 4k+2 sts: the row begins and ends with k2, so the side seam will be invisible.
- Work each following row "as the stitches present themselves": knit the knits.
Tip
Ribbing is often worked on needles 0.5 mm smaller than the main fabric.
Common mistake
When moving the yarn between knits and purls, do not take it over the needle, or you will make a yarn over.
