Joining in the round
Any knitting on circular needles: hats, top-down yokes, sleeves.
How to do it
- Cast on and spread the stitches along the cable.
- Check that the cast-on edge faces inward all the way around, so nothing is twisted.
- Place a beginning-of-round marker.
- Knit the first stitch on the left needle with the working yarn: the round is joined.
Tip
To avoid a jog at the join, cast on 1 extra stitch and knit it together with the first one.
Common mistake
A twisted cast-on cannot be fixed: you will have to rip it out.
