Lively Loop

Three-needle bind-off

Shoulder seams from live stitches (especially after short rows).

backthird needlefrontfirst sts together
Three-needle bind-off: pieces right sides together, needles parallel. The third needle goes into the first st of the front and the first st of the back at once and knits them together; bind off two such sts as usual

How to do it

  1. Place the pieces right sides together, needles parallel.
  2. With a third needle, knit together the first stitch on the front needle and the first on the back needle.
  3. Knit the next pair together and pass the first stitch over the second.
  4. Continue to the end.

Tip

The seam is sturdy and does not stretch, so the sweater shoulder keeps its shape.
