Crew neck
The classic for pullovers and sweatshirts. Front depth 6–8 cm, back 2 cm.
How to do it
- Neck opening width = half the neck circumference + 1–2 cm.
- On a RS row, bind off the center stitches (≈ 60% of the neck opening width).
- Work each shoulder separately: decrease 1 st at the neck edge every RS row 4–6 times.
- Work even to the shoulder, then shape the slope.
- Back: bind off the center 2 cm before the shoulder and work 2 decreases.
Tip
Work decreases 1–2 sts in from the edge: picking up stitches for the neckband will be easier.
Common mistake
Binding off too many stitches at the center makes the neckline square.
