Bobble from the stitch 3 rows below
A raised “drop” that grows out of the fabric below: plump flowers and berries on stockinette.
How to do it
- Find the stitch 3 rows below the one now on the left needle (the chart marks it).
- Insert the right needle into its centre, pull up a long loop, yarn over and pull up another loop from the same place. You now have 3 stitches of the same height on the right needle.
- Drop the stitch on the left needle above the bobble: it unravels down to where you pulled up the loops.
- In the next row, purl these 3 stitches.
- In the next right-side row, make them one again: slip 2 together knitwise, knit 1, pass the slipped stitches over it.
Tip
Pull all three loops up to the same height — that is what makes the bobble even.
