Wrapped stitches
A few stitches tied together with the working yarn like a ribbon: knots, “sheaves” and ties in Japanese stitch patterns.
How to do it
- Work the stitches of the group as charted (most often knit 3) and slip them onto a cable needle.
- Bring the working yarn to the front and wrap it around the gathered stitches counter-clockwise as many times as the chart shows (most often 2).
- Take the yarn to the back and move the stitches from the cable needle to the right needle.
Tip
Don’t pull the wraps tight: the stitches should stay the same size as their neighbours.
The stitch count stays the same.
The number next to the symbol in the chart is how many times to wrap.
